| Promoting Education and Awareness |

The SSP seeks to elevate the industry of settlement planning by promoting education and awareness of the issues facing injury victims before, during and after settlement. These issues include, but are not limited to, decisions relating to allocation of the settlement, cash flow planning, trust planning, tax planning, estate planning, insurance planning, preservation of governement entitlements, etc. To ensure participants in the settlement planning industry have the opportunity to be recognized for their mastery of these subjects, the SSP has had an important role in the development of the independent designating body called the Registry of Settlement Planners. Registered Settlement Planners must complete comprehensive coursework within a year, agree to abide by the Standards for Professional Conduct for settlement planners and have at least three years of experience as a settlement planner. The SSP encourages all members and non-members alike to seek the designation so that they may be better equipped to meet the needs of injury victims. |
